'91 Century 3.1L won't start on hot
Hello, I have a '91 Century 3.1L which won't start when get hot. If you was driving on a heavy traffic or hot weather, if you stop it, it wont start again until you wait for aprox 2 hours later. I have changed the starter twice since then and the problem stands. Seems to be a electronic problem but don't have a clue what component is failing on hot conditions. Any ideas?
Many Thanks!

Re: '91 Century 3.1L won't start on hot
welcome to AF!
by not start, do you mean the starter turns the engine over but it just cranks and cranks, or when you turn the key to the start position, it just clicks or nothing happens?

Re: '91 Century 3.1L won't start on hot
Try shifting the car into neutral and try it. If it works in neutral, you need a new park/neutral safety switch. If it still does nothing, then you need to find out if you're getting power down to the starter solenoid "s" terminal when the key is in the start position. If you are, then you have another bad starter/solenoid. If you are not, then you need to check the ignition switch and/or the neutral safety switch (as it may be burnt up and not working in either the park or neutral positions)

It is mounted to the transmission case, where the shift cable attaches. Look under the hood on the driver's side behind the engine. Here is a picture of the part from AC-Delco's website so you know what you're looking for.
