Re: problem with harmonic balancer

Which engine?

How many miles on engine and between changing of balancers?

Does it have more than 1/16th to 1/8th inch wobble?

Have you tryed a different brand of harmonic balancer?

From what I have read on other forums the wobble is a common thing. The rubber between the belt pulley part and the base which attaches to the crankshaft is of poor quality and detoriate. Depending on how much wobble most do not replace.

Could it be that the serpintine belt tensioner is faulty and causing undo stress on the balancer?? Have the tensioners ever been changed? What the condition of belt when balancer begins to wobble??
