Platinum or Iridium???

So, I've decided to replace plugs and wires in my truck. '02 Silverado 1500 HD crew cab, 6.0L 75,000 miles. (and also switch over to Mobil 1 5W-30 to try and decrease the infamous GM cold start-up slap, chatter, knock, whatever you want to call it). Anyway, I'm getting off my subject here. Back to the plugs. For years I've used Autolite platinums in all my vehicles ( Chevy, Dodge, Olds.) And been very pleased with them. However, this is the first one I've had that actually calls for the AC Iridiums. My question is, with this engine would I still be fine with the Autolites or should I spend the $8.00 a piece on the Iridiums. It's not just about the differance in price, I'm just wondering if these engines really need the Iridiums to get the performance AND 150,000 plus miles that I'm used to getting out of my well-maintained cars and trucks.

Thanks in advance for expressing any of your opinions...

Re: Platinum or Iridium???

1. neither. go to HALOs. after you had them installed, disconnect battery overnight to clear all "bad habits" your ECM had from previous plugs.
2. if engine is not taking oil in any form - blow by burn out, leaks, etc - switch to Amsoil. I run easy 15000 miles between changes. Do the math, it is, actually, more cost efficient than using conventional oils.
3. Mobil1 oil filter is the best available, next to it - K&N one.

this is an old post that was started with me asking about spark plugs. It might help you some I don't know. I put the Iridiums in mine 75000 miles on engine now. NO problems
