'97 Suburban Brake Problem
I have a '97 Suburban that when you press on the brakes the parking brake light comes on, does anyone know what that means?

Re: '97 Suburban Brake Problem
The "parking brake" light is also the brake warning light. It is either low on fluid or its seeing a problem based on what the proportioning valve is doing. I don't recall specifically how these are setup. Start with the basics, a visual inspection for worn out/leaking components will be your next step.

Re: '97 Suburban Brake Problem
okay thanks,
I will do that but also today when i was driving home from school i noticed that i have to push the brake pedal all the way down just to get it to slow down. Do you think that could be just worn out brake pads? |

Re: '97 Suburban Brake Problem
As stated by Airjer, your brake system needs a detailed inspection before you wreck your self and/or some one else.

Re: '97 Suburban Brake Problem
I'd be WTB U blew a brake line if the light is on and U have a low brake pedal. Take a look at the fluid level in the master cly...I'll bet it's low. If it is...add some more fluid and step on the brake pedal a few times and then look underneath for leaks.
