Partial Install of Remote Start/Keyless Entry
Purchased the Autopage RSTKE-900 last week. It has two 900 MHz FM remotes, the 900LCD has the two-way. The two remotes are quite small and if anyone has LARGE hands it might be an issue. Seems to have some good range though. Decided to give her a try today. I don't yet have a bypass immobilizer for the 2006 Taurus but installed everything to have my keyless entry. Did some preplanning and got all the wires lined up the last couple days. Did the hookups today and after a little bit of programming issues have a functioning keyless entry now! Have the horn, dome, and parking lights for arm and disarm. Also have the trunk pop and panic modes. All went fairly straight forward and am pretty happy so far. Will tackle the remote start at a later date when it warms up a bit!!
If anyone needs any help for a 2006 Taurus with wiring let me know. Think I have it all figured out! Thanks to all here on the forum who assisted me in my planning and answered my questions! |

Re: Partial Install of Remote Start/Keyless Entry
Glad you got it going. The '06 Taurus is a very, very common car with a bunch of wiring information alreayd out on the net and most of which is free. Make sure to have 2 working ignition keys prior to hooking up the bypass for the securlock system. I like to use the Keyoverride-All or the keyoverride-SL2 from www.ifar.ca You can find them repacked under other names as well.

Re: Partial Install of Remote Start/Keyless Entry
Yep I believe that is the one the Autopage remote I installed recommends for my system. And yes I do have 2 keys available when I do the install. My control has a data port on it so it looks like I'll have to splice 3 wires besides the data connection.
Only problem I forsee at this time is trying to find a hole in the firewall to run the tach wire through. I've seen some posts talking about the limited possibilities and I did a cursory glance today and didn't see much! Suppose I could try the tachless install but apparantly much less dependable. |
