Question about odometer reading

Anyways, so I got these GSR rims on my car, and the speedo reads 5 miles slowere than it normally would so my question is am I actually logging less mileage on my odometer. I know the easy answer is yes because it would be logging less miles, but when you think about it, if you drive from point A to point B, it doesnt matter how fast you go, your mileage will still be the same.

So what I ask of you, is do you or do you not think its logging less miles, and if so please explain.

It is logging less miles....here's a theoretical example to explain it....suppose stock tire size it takes you 1 hour driving with the speedo at 60 miles an hour to get some place, then you are driving 60 miles....with the GSR rims on just say it takes 30 minutes driving with the speedo at 60 miles an hour to get to the same place (I know the real change isnt that much but its easier numbers to work with)....the car thinks you only went 30 miles because you drove half the time at "the same" speed.....both the speedo and odometer rely on having the proper outside diameter on your tires to be correct.

yes but for every rotation of the wheel the car is going further or less depending on whether the wheels are bigger or smaller, so it would be different

U r loggin less miles cause of ur larger tires... when my 17's r on I log 4.5 less miles for every 100 that i travel.

When u raise the circumference of ur tire there are less revolutions per mile therefore reducing the mileage & ur speedometer.
