'97 Park Avenue Ultra Door Lock
This car belongs to one of my customers and I do alot of work on it for her. Recently, I noticed when pushing the door lock button on the driver's door every door opens but the passenger door. If she pushes the door lock switch up or down on the passenger door, it works and all locks lock and unlock as normal function. When you put car in park all door locks open. When in reverse or drive all door locks lock. It seems like everthing works o.k. with the keyless entry fob; although one time the passenger door didn't seen to open; but then again I need to check this one further.
I have the shop manual for this car and it looks like a possible problem with the door lock module? Could this point to the one in the passenger door?
Like I said the main problem is when trying to open the door locks with the switch on the driver's door. The passenger lock won't budge. We know the passenger door switch is good, the motor actuator is good etc.
Why did they go to a module type system? Is this because of the automatic feature of the doors locking and unlocking according to the shifting of the transmission lever?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thaks
