K&n fipk

http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...dProduct=27031

i want to get a new intake for obvious reasons and was considering this one. i was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with this kit. and also if it comes with all adapters, etc. that are needed to replace the stock intake with this one

Re: K&n fipk

yup, it's reapy to bolt on. the FIPK is probably the most common mod for the 3/s...very tried and true. The only drawback is the price...

What you see in that pic is what you get.

You dont get a replacement arm.

Re: K&n fipk

ok thanks. also on a different topic of boost gauges. im on stock turbos and intend to keep it that way so i wont be passing 14psi range. is the AEM tru-boost (http://www.pricematchedparts.com/ind...231&parent=170) a good product for this task? the price tag is very attractive, and it also will eliminate the need for a boost gauge right?

Re: K&n fipk

yea, that's a good one...that's the one i plan to get when i can afford it.
The nice thing about that one is it has an anjustable scale...so if will work with stock boost levels all the way up to...well, prettymuch whatever you can run. a good investment if you plan on upping the boost in the future.

Re: K&n fipk

i now have thought of another question which may be unanswerable. if i were to purchase the aforementioned boost gauge/controller, the FIPK intake, and the borla SS cat back exhaust (ive asked about this one before) what kind of overall power gain could i expect? 15%? 10%? any ideas?

Re: K&n fipk

Don't expect much from the FIPK. The stock intake isn't very restrictive. I wish I hadn't bought mine. The money is better spent on opening the exhaust.

Boost gauge = No power gain
FIPK = Maybe 1-2HP
Catback = I'm not sure on these cars. But if you've already asked I assume you already know?

Re: K&n fipk

how would the boost gauge give me no power? it isnt just a gauge, its a controller too and im planning to set the boost at 13-14psi since im on stock turbos. and yeah i have heard various things about the exhaust. the general concensus seems to be around a 5% gain

you could go from 220-240 awhp(stock AWHP) to around 300 awhp if you have those mods plus a fuel pump and the boost turned to 15psi. I've seen it once or twice

Re: K&n fipk

300-320 is the bhp which is brake horsepower or power at the crank.

Re: K&n fipk

Yes, all cars are rated at the crank. When you hear the Z06 is rated at 505 hp, thats 505 crank horsepower. The 03-04 Cobra is rated at 390 horsepower, which is 390 crank horsepower.

The thing about the Cobra is its more like 430 crank horsepower since many people put down 380 to the wheels stock. Ford underrated it for insurance reasons.

Re: K&n fipk

haha thats funny. so if you compare the HP at the crank to HP at the wheels, would it be lower on AWD cars than front/rear wheel drive? like say if a RWD car had 300 at the crank, it would put a bigger number to the wheels?
