'96 Sierra Brake Problem

'96 GMC Sierra Z-71, 350 engine, 4WD - The rotor on the passenger side keeps warping, usually after 6 - 8 months of use. Tie rod ends, pitman arm, drag link, calipers, rotors and shoes a few times, hoses - all new within the last year or so. It seems that the brake is dragging - consequently bad mileage (if it isn't bad enough!) I know the left front speed sensor is bad which is giving me the ABS light, but the light came on after the rotor problem started. I have kept the rear shoes adjusted, but I have never had to change them.

Until the last time, I always put on new after-market rotors not turned ones.

I'm at wit's end. What is it - proportioning valve? Ball joints (never changed)? Control arm bushings? These are a few things I have seen discussed regarding brake problems.

you should be able to turn the wheel by hand when it's in the air. it sounds like the caliper is hanging on causeing drag and warping the roter. the pins on the caliper may not be letting caliper "float" on the roter causeing heat to warp the rotor. the wheel bearing may also be in poor condition causing a miss alignement issue. and to welcome to A/F

Like stated above you may have a caliper draging. Did you grease the caliper pins? If not try that. I also put caliper grease where the brake pad makes contact with the caliper and caliper brackets on either end. Hope this helps.

here's my thots master cylinder problem/brake booster or brake pedal pivot hanging up. oh well just pondering.
