Re: 2002 mitsh galant

Well now. That's interesting. I've had two electric fuel pumps burn out because I let the tank run out of gas and did not immediately shut off the ignition. So the pump ran dry for a little while, then gave up.

I too have an '02 Galant and I just walked outside to bump the ignition and listen to hear for the hum of the fuel pump kicking in. I heard nothing.

Do other checks. Is the battery low or dead? Does your gas gauge work?

I personally don't mess with EFI, but in the old days you could just pop off the air cleaner lid, manually rock the throttle, and see if you've got gas getting to the carburetor.

I'm going to do some research and hopefully I'll be able to provide the definitive answer.
