I entered my first competition ever...

Surprisingly I won! The venue was Blizzard Con 2009 in Columbus. This was my first experience with modeling competitions and it was a very positive one. Seeing as I modify and change pretty much each of my models I entered my Celica 1600GT in the "Box Stock" category because it had little modification. My Celica took 1st place in that catergory, I was so excited. I entered all my other cars into the "Scratchbuilt/Conversions" category and my 4Runner/Waverunner took 2nd place.

I have to thank everyone on this site for all the hints throughout the years, this place has shaped my modeling skills and helped me become better as time moves along.

The vendor tables were also pretty awesome. I picked up a Revell Premium 750il with detailed V12, a Revell AMG 300E, Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo, and a dirt cheap AMT Stealth just for the engine.

Congrates! It always feels good to get something to show for your work.

I go to contests in Indianapolis, cincy OH, columbus IN, St.louis, MO, and some in Louisville KY. I sometimes get trophies and sometimes not but, I love to get new ideas and talk to people that I only see a few times a year at the shows. I always learn something from the show and get a burst of energy back into my modeling.

Some people get caught up thinking they should be the winner but, it is more relaxing to just go for the fun and if you trophy then that is a bonus.

Maybe I will see you at a contest sometime,
Mark

Re: I entered my first competition ever...

So I went to another competition in Pittsburgh yesterday, TriCon2009. I figured I'd just bump this up. These competitions are so fun and extremely gratifying. I like having my work appreciated by all the seasoned modelers/judges. Here are some of my favorite models of the show. The judging was open style judging so your work could get nothing, bronze, silver, or gold. I received 3 bronze and one gold w00t!

Amazingly this was actually the Revell Enzo.

I got this for $6.00!
