problem going from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive
I have a 2002 Grand Cherokee, 4.7 v8 with selec trac. I often drive it in 4 wheel drive..full time mode in the winter on snowy raods and slippery conditions.
Lately when moving it back to 2 wheel drive, it dosen't engage properly and it feels like 4 wheel low or something of that nature. Sometimes after several tries it will work properly. I wondered if anyone could help me solve this problem, could it be a linkage that needs adjustment? Thanks |

Re: problem going from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive
I had a similar problem with my '94 Jeep GC (not sure if the shifter is the same, though). I sprayed some WD-40 into the shift console (along the lever) and worked it back & forth a bit. My issue was that the shifter wasn't moving all the way into the next gear. This is an easy first step. If that doesn't do it, it might be a cable adjustment. Let us know if it loosens up.

Re: problem going from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive
I have this problem in my 98 5.9Limited (242 swap, when I shift into 4 wd drive it will shift fine but sometimes will still be in 4WD, I just put it in 2wd then put it in reverse then drive and do that a couple times to get it to pop out of 4wd.
