Damn Potholes!

Ok, i know this has nothing to do with street racing, but this is one of the most popular forums, with a lot of knowledgeable people, so i know this is my best shot at an answer....if a MOD wants to move it to a more appropriate forum, by all means do it.
Ok so about a week or so ago i'm driving into the Y, and this idiot comes flying around the corner, so I can't go into his lane to avoid a huge pothole, and BOOM i go right through it......immediately after i hear a grinding noise coming from the right front tire (wheel which went through the pothole). A couple of days after that, the grinding noise for some reason is coming from my left front tire now, and it's way more then the right front. It doesn't do it constantly, but does it on any surface that isn't perfect. And sometimes when it starts it does it a little while after. If i drive over something larger, it's more of a squeak....You guys have any idea's of what could be wrong, and how i could check it? By the way this was in my Cavalier.

I don't know what may be wrong but I too would like to share a pothole story.
As some of you may know Missouri is ranked 49th in terms of road quality. One night I was coming off of the exit on the way to my house. As I left the highway I hear this huge bang as I hit a pot-hole that I never even saw. As a result, the tire blows and the car ends up riding on the wheel and dragging to a stop just past the "hole-to-hell". The resulting damage to my Supra was the wheel was detroyed, the tire, upon explosion ripped into the side panels on the bottom of the passenger side requiring a replacement of the ride rocker panels, and the nose which I think hit the concrete while the car was in the hole was pushed up and cracked thus requireing a replacement of the nose piece. All together...almost 1500 dollars in damage.
Don't worry. It's all been fixed and she looks good as new.

yup, i was thinking somewhere between the suspension arms, bushing, or the strut itself. now if you want to talk about pot hots, you gotta go to new york city. after this hugh snow storm, manhattan was practically destroyed. when i was driving cross town, i had to drive in a angle down soo many streets to avoid pot holes and was forced to drive on some pot holes (in an angle though) and guess what? those pot holes are soo deep, even as i aproach them like that, i still bottomed out, and i'm on stock suspension. when i was washing my car the following weekend, i found chipped paint all over my front bumper.

Damn, I was hoping to have a chance at your Supra while it was out of commission

Sorry about those things happening though. I just nailed a pot hole in my bro's Si three weeks ago. Bent his rim, so we're saving up to get another one for him...

so you're thinking suspension eh? that's the last thing i wanted to hear. It's intermintent though, does it more sometimes then it does others. The car still drives fine, and is still balanced....no vibrations, etc. I think i might just put up with the sound for now, because i don't have the cash to replace the suspension on my cav.

Ya I hate pot holes to. Two weeks ago I wacked a doozy and bent my rim. I shipped it off to a place in Ohio who straightend it out, and its better then ever now.

Jack up the car and check out the suspension before you start replacing parts.

BlkCamaro...Sorry dude that happened last June. I can't let my baby go two days without a wash there was no way she was going to be out of commision long. But that wouldn't be much of a race with me on three tires :frog:
