Equalizer/Amplifier units any good?

I was looking at an inexpensive way to add some power to my 4 speakers and remember I had an old profile equalizer/amp many years ago that did the trick. I'm wondering if anyone has good or bad to say and which brand to choose. There are a few models from Pyramid, Profile and Boss that are all Equalizer/Amplifiers (7-10 band EQ and about 4x50 watts)...$25-$60. I have a basic JVC 420 unit and 4 power acoustik speakers)....hence the "inexpensive" road.

Re: Equalizer/Amplifier units any good?

if the deck has has RCA preouts and EQ/amp has RCA inputs, it will be be about the same power or maybe a little more than a high power headunit and may end up sounding a little better. I guess in that price range you aren't looking for a big increase in power/quality.
