shipping

Hi 5ynergyx

I bought a couple of kits from HLJ a while back. Had them sent to me at home via SAL. The shipping estimates given by HLJ are pretty accurate.

I bought 2 1/24 scale kits at that time, so the total shipping for those 2 kits were about 62% of the combined shipping cost of the individual kits listed in the product content page.

It arrived in about 8 days, and they were in very good condition. I would only get kits that are unavailable here though, cos the price of each kit worked out to be higher. Unless you can "pakat" with a few other people and save on the shipping.

can't recall

Can't remember exactly how much, but I bought a Mercedes Benz CLK GTR (2000 yen, shipping - 1080 yen) and a MacLaren Mercedes MP4/13 (2400 yen, shipping - 780 yen).

Cost of kits - 4400 yen
Shipping - 1150 yen (est) - (1080+780 x 0.62)

Total = 5550 yen or about S$82.00.

It comes up to about S$41 per kit, which is expensive coz you can get the CLK GTR for S$31.90 from Mediamix.

Ya true! It quite expensive....... I never wanted to order any kits from Tamiya coz i can get it the cheapest price in singapore. But the rest like Fujimi are quite expensive esp at Roy's Hobby in Bugis. I just saw the Fujimi Evo 8 and the new R33 skyline by Fujimi selling $47++

Ouch.. That's pretty steep. Fujimi kits aren't that much cheaper compared to Tamiya kits on HLJ. If you do the sums, it may be cheaper to get your stuff there, esp if you order in bulk to save on shipping.

According to the HLJ shipping information on their web page, they said that if you order more than 1 kit from them, the shipping cost would be between 20 - 40% less than the combined individual shipping costs.

The total shippign cost for my order was not 40% less, it was between 35% and 40%. So I took 38% as an estimate. 100 - 38 = 62.

This SARS thing is really getting everyone paranoid. Yesterday someone in my office coughed violently.. and sent everyone around him scurrying for cover. /Sorry. A little off topic/

Anyway, just wanted to mention that if you guys are looking for good deals on Tamiya kits, head on down to the Big Book Store in Clementi Central. Their list price is usually at least 15% cheaper than a model shop.

I bought my 360 Spider for about S$34 there. The variety isn't that great but the price sure is.
