Transmission woes

Alright, my car is falling apart. I am going to desperately try to fix my car as I always do, but this one has me puzzled. I am no mechanic by any means, so any suggestions will be appreciated greatly. My transmission is acting strange. It feels like it is confused about its gear choice at times. I wouldn't rule out a transmission slip, but it doesn't exactly feel like it is outright slipping. It also acts in a sporadic manner, it is not always consistently happening or happening at only a high or low rpm. At times I will go to accelerate and it will pull and choke intermittently. At higher rpms, it isn't as noticeable because of the reduced torque in comparison to a start from a stop. This may be related to old plugs on the car, but times are tight and I don't want to spend any money on this high mileage car that I don't have to spend. And that includes taking it to a mechanic which I may ultimately have to do. Thanks much.

Re: Transmission woes

If I were you, I would just take it down to a mechanic and have them listen to these problems your having. I cant see them charging you an arm and a leg just to take a look, the two I use never charge me. They'll probably be able to tell you whats wrong with in a few hours or so. Just ask what it is and that your just looking for a price. If its simply DIY if not then decide if you want to spend the money.
