identifying intermediate shafts

im doing a first gen b16a swap into an 89 hatch, with all the debate over the correct axles to use, and i refuse to buy a custom set, plus cant afford them, i came across this information and need some light shed over if it correct or not. I was told that if you have a y1 tranny and an sk7 intermediate shaft to use 90 teg axles on both sides, and if you have an sh3 intermediate shaft to use a 89 teg axle on the driver side, and a 90 teg axle on the passenger side. is this true? and how do you identify which intermediate shaft you have. also does the y1 tranny use a cable driven speedo or a electric one? sorry for all the ? but im ass deep in this swap and it is my dd.

Yeah, it'll blow - trust me.

And when it does, you'll end up with a rod through the block, the valves playing "Taps" and a timing belt wrapped firmly around the neck of anything within 5 feet when it happens.

LOL, yeah it finally went, it took the timing belt snapping at 80 mph, but it finally went. anyone have anything on the axle situation any info.

Here are your the two styles of half shaft that I have used. I apologize, as I cannot offer any type of number of any one style.

The bottom half shaft is typical of those found on cable transmissions, or 90-93 Integra's. If that's the case, just use 90/93 axles, and remove the dust ring on the inner side of the hub. That simply pops out with a flat screwdriver



If you have the top style, that is typical of a hydraulic transmission half shaft. If this is the case, I always use the 90/93 teg passenger side, then a 94 and up axle for the driver side. This setup still requires the dust ring to be removed.
