S10 Blazer Transmission Code and Serial # decoding...
I have just got a used transmission for my '94 s10 blazer. It's got a few tags and numbers on it. Can I tell if this transmission is what I'm looking for for my truck? Here are some numbers to get us started:
It says: Hydramatic Code# 3TA D7 Serial # 4330 216660 I know one thing so far but am not too sure if what I was told is true. I was told, actually twice, that the truck has a 4L60e transmission. Sounds right to me, but what do I know. I can't see any tags on my transmission by looking under the truck, until I get the thing out. My book tells me that with my W vin# that It is a 4L60e. Basically I need to know if this transmission I've pick up is in fact also a 4L60e, If the one in my truck is a 4L60e and are there different types of 4L60e transmissions? Does the one I got match the one in my truck??????Can anyone help??? |

Re: S10 Blazer Transmission Code and Serial # decoding...
Compare the plug in parts the pans and the bolt holes. If they are the same the transmission will most likely work. I believe there were different builds of the 4l60e, with the s10 being the "lightest" build. So at the least you should have gotten the same one, at best you may have gotten a bit more of a HD tranny. That being said, if you have a local tranny shop, I would bring it in to them to have it tested before you go through the trouble of installing it.

Re: S10 Blazer Transmission Code and Serial # decoding...
I can say for sure this transmission came out of a '93 4x4 s10 blazer with overdrive. I have a '94 4x4 s10 blazer with overdrive. So I think I'm close.
Thanks for the reply. |
