Question V8 Cavalier??? Say Wha?!

Hey Guys. New member to the site. would it be possible to put a big block in a cavalier? I guess it is easier to put a domestic engine in a domestic car because if you try to put a foreign engine in a domestic, or domestic in a foreign, you have to hack the electrical? I am just trying to find a light body that I can mod and refab to fit a big block V8. I know my post is kinda all over the place, but whatever. Thanks!

Re: V8 Cavalier??? Say Wha?!

U can put about any engine you want in a cavy,You just have to have the time, resources, and money. If you plan on putting a engine in that makes over 250 horses or
just a lil bit of torque, you better plan on getting a custom made frame or tubular chassis.Or the whole car will twist like a soda can. Good luck. You have a long journey ahead of you.

Re: V8 Cavalier??? Say Wha?!

A few have stuffed V-8s into cavs and made them RWD, but they are on a custom FULL frame. Basically its just a cavalier shell on a RWD chassis. Not worth it in my opinion.

Re: V8 Cavalier??? Say Wha?!

This past fall at Byron, I watched an 9-second Cavalier run on four cylinders. I have to wonder if the Northstar is worth the trouble.

What the heck was that sucker running on?

Fastest I've known to date has been the GM Pro FWD drag car and Hahn Race Crafts fully built and Boosted Eco Sunfire. The Hahn car put down a 10 second run and 600+whp.

Regardless.... you roll up to a car show with a Northstar in a J-body. Your walking away with some sort of trophy in the GM class. I'm pretty sure this guy did it on a show car basis. The 3800 swap is a little easier and guys have been turboing those with 11 second results.

Re: V8 Cavalier??? Say Wha?!

Lier!!! The northstar cav is photoshopped.

But yea, its a show car, not a race car. Hence the 20"s up front and 22"s in the rear.
