Requesting Advice for a vehicle purchase...

Hi All..

I found a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid that I'm really interested in purchasing. The vehicle is owned by an individual in the Air Force based in the UK and the vehicle is there at this time. The vehicle was purchased and is still registered here in US. It has 67,000 miles on it and he's selling it for less then $5000. which is just odd to me seeing that the KBB is over $13,000. He claims that there's nothing wrong with it and says it has a clean record and no accidents. Why is it so cheap???? I'm awaiting that answer....

He said the transaction would have to be completed through EBay and that my money is protected by PayPal. I'm told I'll have 5 days for the inspection and if everything checks out I then contact PayPal to release the funds. Does anyone know if this is how it works?? I'm skeptical because of very untruthful people out there.

The gentleman also told me that he'd have the vehicle shipped by an Air Force Cargo plane and then delivered to my address at no charge. If I choose not to keep it then he would make arrangements for the pickup of the vehicle and bring it back to the UK at HIS charge. Does this make sense to anyone???

Request for Carfax omitted. Please see http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=746931

Thank you in advance,
Kimberlie

Re: Requesting Advice for a vehicle purchase...

BIG RED FLAG - INTERNET FRAUD

This scammer is most likely located in Russia or Nigera. I know how this SCAM works

Without going into long detail on the subject " simply let it go "

When you find another vehicle of interest, provide a link, and let's check it out

Ps, don't call the man a gentleman, he is a slimebag " here's what you got, correct me if I am wrong "
An email address - a cell phone # - an address where to wire money, and a fictitious name.

Why don't you email him a copy of this thread, I would sure love for him to prove me wrong.

Re: Requesting Advice for a vehicle purchase...

First of all, I'd like to apologize to '97ventureowner in regards to asking for a vehicle check. I was unaware it was against TOS. Sorry....

Good Morning Ray,

I'd like to say thank you for confirming my suspicions. My husband seemed to want to be trusting in this individual. I googled his name as the person is in fact in the military BUT who's to say his identity wasn't stolen. We have exchanged email several times and that's all he seems to want is my name and address NOT...Big flag went up for me when none of my questions were answered when asked 3 times...Does he think I'm an idiot.

That old saying's true...If it's too good to be true is probably is!!

Thanks again for your help and I'm glad I found this forum.

Good Evening Kimberly

I been through this type of setup a few times, perhaps you would not mind sending me your exchanged email for me to study at this address [email protected]

I will post my findings in this thread so hopefully nobooooody else falls into this trap, but will know how to read the " buyers beware "

When I buy a car... I always look for the engine's quality regardless of what brand model to be honest. Be very wise in choosing your car.
