1997 conversion van bleeding air from coolant?

I am having the worse trouble trying to bleed the air for a 1997 cheverolet convesion van with the 5.7 in it. I have tried filling the radiator with the cap of letting the engine run until the tstat opens but everytime right before the stat opens or when it actually does the antifreeze will start shooting 3 foot out of the radiator and the gauge will want to peg, I imediately turn the engine of and the top hose is just shaking and girgling I have no idea on how to remove the air in this vehicle. Please help as I dont want to damage the head gaskets.

Pull a heater hose or a coolant hose near top of intake.
