Re: alternator

Question seems general enough for me, there are a few tricks to take pulleys off without the pulley turning while trying to loosen the bolts. Most of the time if you do that first with the belt still on(just getting the bolts loose) you will have no problem, then you can take the belt off and easily remove the bolts.

If you already have the belt off and don't want to go through the time of putting it back on and getting it tight again, you can get two wrenches, both the size you need for your pulley bolts, if two wrenches same size not available get one wrench the correct size and a set of vise grips.

On the right side of the pulley put one wrench, or vise grips, on one bolt, and on the bolt up above put the other wrench and pull up on that one as you pull down on the other or vise grips. As you get one loose, go to the next one, put the other wrench or your vise grips on the one you just loosened and then the wrench you loosened it with on the next one up, keep doing this till you have all of them loose.
