Talking Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

Hay you guys I was looking at speed last night and a re-run of motor trend came on and they talked about the new version of the Z cars. Well I was thinking who will come out with the 1/24 kit first I hope Tamiya or Fujimi will make this one but, I realy like the detail of the tamiya kits more. What do you all think?

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

That picture is a photochop, it's not the real 370Z.

I saw a trio of them this week at a Nissan dealer, including a bright blue one w/the performance package as shown in the photo above (performance package has the 19" snake-tongue wheels and rear spoiler; std. 370's have more traditional 18" 5 spoke wheels). They also had a gray GT-R. Call me crazy, but I'll take a 370Z any day over the GT-R. I really like how they've improved upon the 350 styling and making it trimmer. GT-R is too big for my tastes...but then again I'm used to driving a small roadster. The new 370Z looks awesome in person. In order of preference I'd like the 370Z to be made by Fujimi, Tamiya, or Aoshima.

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

^ The new 370Z is actually wider and a bit longer than the 350Z. The GT-R is just a bulky car all together. The 370z isn't supposed to be on sale till mid-April. I've seen one around my area but it has the dealer plates so it's not owned privately yet. I can't wait to see Tamiya bring this kit out. After I'm done with my GT-R story build, I'm starting on a Z story build.

The 370Z is shorter and wider than the 350Z. It's officially on sale now.

There are multiple 370Zs driving around here in Valencia, Ca. They are really cool!

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

I like the 370Z's shorter wheelbase (by 100 mm compared to the 350Z) especially because majority of cars these days just get bigger and heavier. I had a chance to sit in the driver seat the other day, and it felt much better than the already good 350Z. But I hate those fangs, and I think they will disappear in the first face lift in 2-3 years.

Anyway, knowing how disappointing Tamiya's recent car kits can be, I don't have high hope for them, but we might hear a good news from either Fujimi or Aoshima at the Shizuoka hobby show this May. If Fujimi (which skipped Z33) decides to make one, it will most likely be an all new kit that's on par with their R35 kit, which will be great. If Aoshima makes one, they might reuse the Z33 chassis, like they did to their S15 & S13 Silvia kits. Either way, we won't hear much news from JP manufacturers until around May.

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

Just saw the real thing in the car show. It's very nice to see it in person. Strong, organic curve (that pictures don't show), especially at the rear fender. Add in to the new shorter wheelbase, it is a very compact powerful package. The lights are not my favorites but everything else e.g the rear deck + spoiler, 2 bump at the roof are all put together nicely. Quite sure one of the japanese model makers will make one but hope that tamiya will too since they always have the best quiality and they always make LHD option.

Of course. You will have to shorten the chassis (wheelbase is shorter), shorten the body behind the doors (body is shorter), modify every panel, make new lamps/lenses, design/make new wheels, re-configure interior, dash, seats, steering wheel, luggage area. Probably need to make new side glass. Widen the body and track.

No problem. Spend about 100-500 hours, give or take...and you can have your own 370Z model. It's an all-new car. There is plenty of reference available by looking at the real cars, Ebay auctions, magazines. One could do like the yellow photochopped car at the beginning of this thread (not a 370Z, it's a 350Z modified to look a bit like the 370), and just make it look sort of like a 370Z from a 350Z. But the real differences are much greater, if not more subtle.

Or just wait to open a box by Fujimi/Aoshima/Tamiya if they decide to do it. Your choice, really...

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

<flame suit on> I think they look like a cheesy cross b/w a 350Z, a Z4 and a 911. Not "feeling" it, not a timeless design like the 350Z. As for kits, I'm guessing Fujimi will be first, they seem to be making a big market play.

Re: Question about the New 2010 370Z in 1/24?

yeah...however none of them even produced an Evo X... therefor I doubt that we'll get a 1/24 370.

As for the design, IMO the body repeats the lines of the 240Z.
