Over Head console cut off

A couple weeks ago I had to replace the battery of my Venture 99, 3 days later the over head console went off... no display lights at all.. I disconnect and reconnect the battery again and the over head console started working again, but two days ago it went off again. This is the Little screen where you can read the outside temperature and the compass, not the reading map lights.
SOME IDEAS ABOUT WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM??
THANKS,
CHEFFO59

2009 Venture?

Are the overhead console lights you mentioned the map reading lights.

You could pry the console down from the ceiling and test for power. It just clips in place.

Activate the override light switch or the power door override and then open a door to turn on the interior lights or activate the power sliding door switch on the door post and see what the results are.

If the lights do not come on when the door opens you have power going to the overhead console.

Same goes for trying the power sliding door. If the door won't open, you have power going to the overhead console.

Re: Over Head console cut off

The Venture's year is 99... sorry for the confusion.
And the problem is with the little screen where you read outside temperature and the compass and other driver additional information.

The computer. Pry the assembly down from the roof liner and test for power to the computer.

Re: Over Head console cut off

there are four screws holding the upper console to the roof..it does not pry down.if i remember right two of them are in the sunglass holder and two in the garage opener holder.these displays have a lcd screen i think is what they are but these are bad to short out and quit .if you take the screen out and see a black spot on the screen then it has bit the dust.a salvage yard is a good place to find one.one out of a silverado pick-up is the exact same thing.what you are refering to is called the d.i.c. [drivers info center] i think there is a fuse in the fusebox at the end of the dash on the passenger side for the dic i think its a ten amp[red] fuse.also if anything is screwed up after you undo or remove a battery.reprogramming it as outlined in the owner's manual will straighten it back out.one other thing make sure the terminal bolts are clean ,the new battery should insure the battery holes are clean but if the bolts on the cable ends are dirty then they won't make good contact.
