split second tuning

hey guys, i have just now become somewhat familiar with the fuel controller that has been installed on my 2g, and i was wondering, b4 i try to do this by feeling around int he dark, if anybody has any experience using the little fuel/ignition timing controller....

theres a software disc, and u plug your laptop up to the box under the hood and pretty much work out your fuel map

the car was bought from mississippi, and now is in nc, so it needs to be tuned to this atmosphere and everything so...any help out there??

Your talking about tuning portfueler? I have never used that but tuning will still be the same. Do some pulls and log your a/f ratio with a WB02, look over the data you just got and see if there are any lean or rich spots. Plug into portfueler and lean/richen those spots on the map slightly. Do another pull and see keep making small changed till you get it how you want it.

What are you using to control ignition timing?

no no no not portfueler...well i mean im using a portfueler, but i also have a fuel/ignition timing controller, its like a box under the hood screwed down in place, and its wired into everything

the portfueler is just a spacer in between the intake mani and the block and it has 4 holes, so 4 more injectors are there spraying fuel in, which is controlled obviously

but what happens is, i can get my laptop and a serial cable and plug up into the box under the hood and using the software disc i have, i can actively manipulate ratios across the rpm range, so its a pretty awesome little gadget, i guess its like a cheaper fuel management not crazy aem $2k stuff you know


but i was wondering if anyone had one and could give me advice b4 i start trying to tune...=)

Umm well we need to know what it actually is before we can give advice. What software is it? What 'box' is it? Pics? Hard to say anything when we have no idea what it could be except for Port Fueler.

Usually what I do is pull the ignition timing to around 10* under boost and tune the AF ratio and then add timing 1* at a time untill I get knock and then pull it back 1*. I use Det Cans to moniter knock. Look them up if you want they work good.

det cans.....

i quickyl looked it up on here and i got a buncha links to info on the oil catch tanks lol

but yeah, i def have knock in low rpm w/ no boost in 1st, like right when i start off

i mean i drive it a certain way and avoid it, but its a hassle id much rather there be no knock

Any bolt on the block, you cant use the head but the sound isin't as good. I used a bolt by the oil dip stick. I just leave the copper on the block and just slip the hose over it when I tune it. Im actually going to try and make one today that used a conputer speaker amp and a microphone to detect knock. It will be easier to drive with headphones on than all that hose.
