99 voyager won't start 2.4L

1999 voyager, 2.4
no spark, replaced cam and crank position sensor
purchased new coil but have not yet installed b/c
ohms btw opposing posts are 12k
have hooked up test light to connector (right then left, center is ground) and no signal while cranking
Car did not over heat, but checked the first 2 plugs and is 50 lb compression.
So maybe 2 problems, low compression and no spark. I'd like to figure out why no spark first. I imagine it's been running w/ only 50 per cylinder for a long time but cannot prove it until spark is found.

Were the plugs wet with fuel when you removed them? If so the cylinders may be washed down with gas.

the 2 wires are ground.........the gr/or wire (i think the color is power) asd.....you need to check the asd wire for power with the key on, it will only stay on for a few seconds, the other 2 wires will pulse ground when cranking.....

Re: 99 voyager won't start 2.4L

I checked the timing belt, it was moving but upon close inspection discovered it was out of time. While watching the engine turn over the belt would jump, so removed the side cover and the tensioner has 1/2 the bearings gone, that caused the jumping and thus the timing/compression problems. This does not explain the lack of spark.

When testing the 3 wires that plug into the coil none have any fire when cranking. It has been suggested that a bad relay or wire may be the problem. I have not yet found why the coil has no spark during cranking. The top of the fuse/relay box under the hood does not help w/ lables.

To answer the wet plug question, none were wet but when cranking w/o the plugs, could smell gas pretty strong
