Talking My B16 swap is done (56k warning)

Alrighty, here it is... After some frustration and headaches, the swap is in... I got my motor from steve over at hmotorsonline...
Its a b16a/s1 trans...New timing belt/water pump and all new fluids and such... I'm using the stock clutch for now.

Aight here goes:
My motor arrived tightly packaged and pretty damn clean...

Only problem was the alternator belt, which I replaced with one from a 99-00 si

The b16 vs. type r intake

to use a type r intake, you need an eacv from a 92-95 civic si/ex and a fuel rail from a 94+ delsol or gsr... i got an aem fuel rail from a 94+gsr

my complete type r intake

here is where it all happened:

story on axles: 90-93 teg axles, you dont need the following parts

the old trust dusty d:

the d is out, you have to reposition the cat over to match with the b16 piping

bang out this area for alternator clearance:

my dad grinding away at the front mount

and finally the motor is in

that should be it, looking to go tracktime soon and see what it can run... it definetly feels fast and when vtec kicks in, who needs a radio??? that sound is so sweet... the type r cams definetly make a difference...
and i still have yet to get it tuned and such...

well thas it, if anyone has any questions and such, feel free to ask...
julian

- Youre one lucky guy -

That looks beatiful, i'm lookin to get a B16A1 soon, when i get some "moolah" . I also want to feel the power of a B16 , but under my hood. . Where your dad was grinding away at front mount, that is manditory to install the B16 ? Is there anything else besides a complete B16 w/ tranny, etc that you need when buying the thing ? Thanks in advance, and Good luck on the track, and dont forget to represent ~ !

Nice swap. He used the Hasport kit which only requires three mounts due to the durometer of the solid polyurethane bushings in the mounts

yeah...obviously the 4th mount will help a bit..but the real reason the designers put the front mount in there is to help with support in an accident..

Congrats Julian! You don't mess around! I'm *almost* done with my B16 swap (I got my motor about a month before you, doh).

-- I ground off the front mount AFTER I put the engine in -- oops.
-- The cat bolts were perma-rusted on. I ground those off too.

To Do:
-- Bleed brakes
-- Refill transmission oil
-- Install cheap-o 'short ram' intake
-- Install Clutch cable (tried to modify stocker; broke it)
-- Replace hood latch
-- install e-fans
-- Install hood
-- Install rear sway bar/bushings (maybe later)
-- Drive the p!ss out of it

Questions/observations:
-- Where did you ground your VTEC oil (IIRC) pressure sensor?
-- Your intake looks stock. Which car is that off of? Why no aftermarket?
-- Are you using the stock Si exhaust? Impressions?
-- How'd you keep the garage so clean? Mine looks like a small bomb blew up a honda and a toolbox.
-- Why'd you take the whole front end off?

The fact that you finished the swap in less than 3 weeks is pretty impressive... Too give everyone else some perspective, this project requires more time/patience than money.

I just love that :ylsuper
I admire you folks that allready did that swap,
I'm still in phase of tuning my engine today I drove it to the one mechanic in here so he'll do the head job and prepair it for new valves and valve springs...but I'll try to SWAP the B16A2 series so a little more difficult swap than yours

Any advice for me?

Mad props, looks like a clean swap. All thats left on my b16 swap is the shift linkage and a few more wires to connect.
