2000 Sunfire Turn Signal Problem

Greetings, all.

My daughter's 2000 Sunfire has developed a turn signal problem I'd like some help with. The right side turn signals are fine, but the left side has an issue with the rear signal. When turning the left turn signal on, the dash light and the front signal light work as designed, but the rear signal does not. I've jumped the harness under the dash where the harness comes out of the steering column and have gotten it to work, but it's not solved all the problem, because the turn signal quits working when the brake pedal is depressed.

Has anyone come across this problem with the rear signal not working, but the front and dash indicator lights working fine?
