94 Grand Prix
The Car wants to stall out when i apply the brakes. Does not matter if i am moving or parked anytime i apply the brakes it acts like it wants to die. It has around 150,000 miles on it and has a 3.1 V-6 in it.

Re: 94 Grand Prix
Could this be a vacuum problem with the brake booster?

Re: 94 Grand Prix
I would have to agree. To test this theory you could temporarily pinch off the vacuum line (use vise-grips modified with round-stock...or plug the end of the hose).
Do this under controlled conditions where you will be moving slowly like in an empty parking lot as you won't have any more brake assist and stopping distances will suddenly be longer than normal.

Re: 94 Grand Prix
Thanks guys I checked out the brake booster and no stall out.
As a matter of fact the car had been sitting long enough the battery was totally wasted, so i put a new one in it and problem solved. Made me wonder if the battery, which at the time i was having the problem, would still hold a charge. But if it could have had something wrong inside it making it short out or something like that? |
