Intake manifold
I have a 2002 with 72,000 miles and suspect intake gasket problems. I can smell coolent outside the car. This seems to be a popular problem with this 3800 engine. Will adding stop leak to the coolant buy me any time. Thanks

Re: Intake manifold
Probably not. How much coolant are you losing?

Re: Intake manifold
not a whole lot yet. maybe a pint every 1000 miles. It almost smells worse than it is leaking.

Re: Intake manifold
The three most common coolant leak points (UIM/LIM gaskets, coolant elbows, water pump) on the 3800 will not be helped by adding stop leak. Since you're smelling coolant, I'll assume it's an external leak which would point more towards the water pump or coolant elbow.
