97gagt NEEDS HELP WITH FUEL PROBLEM

Ok guys here goes we have a 1997 Grand Am GT with a 3100V6 with 190K miles. i think i'm having a problem with Vaporlock. if you let the car sit over night it will start right up. but if you shut it off it doesn't want to start back up. it will crank and fire the stall. and then it just cranks. if you then let it sit for about 3 to 4 hours it MIGHT start up again but who knows. it's not overheating and it's getting spark. i just need help diagnosing. if i know whats wrong i can fix it it's just figuring out whats wrong
any help would be appreciated

Re: 97gagt NEEDS HELP WITH FUEL PROBLEM

Id check your fuel pressure, think it should be 41-47psi.
You can rent a pressure gauge at most part stores. Shradder valve is on the pass side of the engine.

If your fuel filter hasnt been changed in the last 20-30k miles might try changing that. If its clogged it can cause simular problems.

Might also run some injector cleaner thru it if you dont regularly do so.

When was the last plug & wire change ?
They might be sparkin but could be weak from age.
