New/re-built 3.4l V6 engine

Hi everybody!

I have a 1994 Chevy Camaro, with a 3.4l V6, 130,000 miles, with a 5 speed manual and a seized engine.

I am debating rebuilding it myself or buying a rebuilt/new engine. Does anyone have any ideas as to:

A reputable engine place (hopefully near Cleveland, Ohio)
Costs involved
difficulty levels for engine removal/installation
Any other info that may be helpful.

Thank you to everyone who responds!

Jack

Re: New/re-built 3.4l V6 engine

If you're keeping the engine stock, I'd suggest just dropping in a junkyard motor and be done with it. It will be the cheapest and easiest route.

If you want to put a lot of money into a rebuild or new motor, I would upgrade to something with a little more power.

There are a few good engine builders here in N.E. Ohio. The guy who did my machining is really good, knowledgeable, and fair.

What city are you in?

Re: New/re-built 3.4l V6 engine

there's a few rather large junkyards in the cleveland area, finding a complete engine dropout should be fairly easy. Most ppl drop the engine cradle from the bottom, which isn't too difficult as long as you are equipped to do so.

Here is a list of engine machine shops in cleveland if you still want to just rebuild the current motor...
