Engine light
I have a 2000 lincoln ls and i just recently tried to help a friend jump start his car and while doing so my engine light came on. has anyone had this problem or know the cause??? any advice is appreciated thanx

Have you codes read. Many of the chain auto parts stores will do this at no charge. I'm guessing the code will be something related to low Keep Alive Memory (KAM) voltage or similar. The electrical systems on these cars is very sensitive to voltage. I suspect the extra load from the dead car caused the system voltage on the LS to drop low enough to trigger the code.
And then I would suggest you pick up a portable jump start pack to carry with you (and recharge it about every 3 months) so next time you are asked to be a good samaritan you don't do it at the possible expense of your car. -Rod |
