put a sub in the rear deck

I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix and i also have a 10" kicker sub as well.

I was thinking about putting it in between the two 6x9's in the back deck. I wanna do this mainly for space issues, there is no room in the car and I dont wanna take up the trunk space (plus a 10" wouldnt travel too well through the trunk).

Is this even a good idea considering the fact that it is gonna be about 4" away from the back window

Re: put a sub in the rear deck

you will have to cut out an 8-10" hole in the back deck and completely seal off the trunk from the passenger compartment unles you are going to make a box for it.

Re: put a sub in the rear deck

yea ill prob have one of the audio places around here cut the hole for me since I'm a little worried about doing that myself. As for sealing them i was gonna install some speaker baffles and seal them against the bottom of the deck

Re: put a sub in the rear deck

you can't just use the foam things for this, you either need a solid box or seal off the trunk.

Re: put a sub in the rear deck

Try going to a car shop who provides a similar service. That way you will be assured that the work is ok and will not destroy the exterior look of your pontiac.
