2005 3.4L IM gaskets?

So after reading the forums Im sure that my 05 has the ever so popular intake manifold gaskets leak. The temps rises and falls seemingly randomly, and I cant get the air out of the system for the life of me. An dof course its the dead of winter and the heats not working half the time.
How dificult is changing the gasket? If I can change a water pump, can I handle this? Im not totaly inexperienced but Im nervous ripping into my nearly new car. Also whats the best brand of gaskets to use? I dont want to do it twice....

Re: 2005 3.4L IM gaskets?

if you continue to get air and cant get full or any heat it sounds like you have a head gasket problem. to check it an easy way. when engine is cold, make sure you can squeeze the upper radiator hose (no pressure), if so then start the engine and while its running check the same hose again in the same spot. if it gets hard within a few seconds or even a minute its got to be a head gasket. ive done several 3400's for the same problem. does it run rough on cold start up?

Re: 2005 3.4L IM gaskets?

Sorry its been awhile since I posted this, honestly I forgot. I just wanted to bring closure to this. So it turns out that all my gaskets are fine for now. Turns out that bleeding ALL the air out of this cars cooloing system is more important than other cars Ive owned. After multiple attemps to bleed the air out I noticed some coolant leaking at one of the hose conections. After the fix the air stays out and the coolant stays in. I cant belive how touchy this car is. My other car with a 3800 has always leaked fuild and hasnt had any kind of problems like this. Thanks automotive forums
