2000 Olds MAF Clean/Replace

How to reach/remove MAF on a 2000 model 3.4L SFI Silhouette/Venture/Montana. I know you have to remove the coolant bottle, auxiliary coolant pump, but things are still very tight down there. I have CRC MAF Cleaner to use before proceeding with any parts replacement. Check Engine reading came for MAF after intermittent engine rev back and forth between 30 and 50 MPH. Tech diagnostics recommended replacement ($400.00), but I will try the CRC first. Any feedback/pics be nice.

Also what will be a good non-OEM MAF sensor for replacement.

Thanks

I have the same year/make/model and I'll be darned if I can figure out why you're taking all that stuff out.

The Mass Air Flow sensor is in-line with the air filter and intake (throttle body).

All you need to do is remove the electrical connection, loosen the hose clamps (one on each side), pull the intake hose back and lift it out.

You might want to hook up a scan tool and a voltmeter first.

If you wish to keep doing your own repairs I would suggest you buy at least a Haynes repair manual (# 38036) for $20. It's well worth the money.

It can be a little tricky to remove, here's a great video that will show you how to remove it and replace it with a new one if you need to.
