Exclamation 2005 Chrysler T&C power lock motor stays on

we got this van used in late 2005 the driver side door never unlocked you would try but you had to keep pushing down and it would go up and down quite fast and act all Ghosty!
well here it now 2009 this silly thing now is total postal on me. if we hit unlock they keep popping up and down ghosty and then after you get it to settle down the mottor keeps running without it popping up and down its just whinning. I should check the windows just incase they use the same motor. could it be just a fuse or is the motor about to die?

anyone want to shed some light as to what I can do?
Hubby pulled the battery cable off. we dont want to run the new battery down dead on top of this problem!

Re: 2005 Chrysler T&C power lock motor stays on

Are you saying the driver's door has the problem or all doors?

The door lock switch tells the Body Control Module (BCM) to power the door lock actuator. Two possibilities. The switch contacts are staying engaged when released. The BCM has an internal fault that is supplying constant power to the door lock actuator. What to do?

In the case of the BCM, you've already made the first move meaning, disconnect the battery to reset the BCM. If that doesn't help all you can do is verify the wiring and connections at the BCM and actuator are good. Next move after the next scenario - change the BCM.

In the case of the switch contacts, remove the switch panel and inspect the assembly to see if you can get inside. You then may be able to clean the contacts with spray contact cleaner. You could use WD40 in a pinch. You can verify a switch problem by checking continuity through the switch contacts using a multimeter.

Your actuator isn't the problem. It has to have power applied to do anything. The BCM does that. That's not to say it doesn't need to be replaced. It's had a lot of extra wear and tear.

Is it just the one door or several ?
Do you have the owners manual for the vehicle ?

Re: 2005 Chrysler T&C power lock motor stays on

Do all the locks act this way when the problem originally began, or just the drivers lock??

The window motor is not connected to the power lock motor at all, except for they may share a common ground and connector at some point along the wire harness in the vehicle.

The likely cause is the Body Control Module or the wiring going to it, wether it be a ground problem or poor connection due to corrosion, dirt etc.

Next time this is occuring turn the key off, then unplug the BCM. It is on the drivers side under the dash to the left of the brake pedal and has 4-5 connectors in a straight line going up and down. They are not the easiest to unplug. If it stops when you disconnect it, and then reconnect it, it no longer does this, it is very likely a bad BCM.

Re: 2005 Chrysler T&C power lock motor stays on

we removed a fuse under the hood and it was find the drivers side has always acted up : you push the lock up to in-lock it and it keeps jumping down and up and down really fast like its sensitive you cant lock it by puhing the drivers side lock down but you can lock it after it does it lock un-lock danse then it locks and you are still trying but thats not what I want to fix right now.... after we took some fuse out (not sure what it was) it stopped and then I was out later on and it started it lock unlock after I pressed the key... is it possible I need to reprogram the keys? it even does it when you hit the lock unlock on the doors too so i guess not.....arrrrgggghh

we switched the fuses still doing the same thing the motor keeps running and the locks pop up and down contiously.

then I unplugged the BCM ((it was the middle one. )) and it stopped (not plugged in) then I plugged it back in and tried it... we tried the locks and it still does the same thing...contiously popping up and down... I think it is shot.... we just decided to take out the fuse and manually lock the doors What a TOTAL PAIN,,,, If I have the option I really want it to work (( but we Poor!)) any ideas that wont cost $$$ is welcome! SF!
