my ac wont work gas is full i think it may be a presure senser just looking for what to check first......THANKS

The low pressure sensor for the AC is in the accumulator/drier on the passenger side firewall. it looks like a small tank of butane and has an electrical connection. If the pressure falls below 35 lbs. it shuts off the clutch to the compressor. If the system is full as you say, then it could possibly be the low pressure sensor thats bad.

A quick check for the pressure switch is to pull the connector off and jump it with a bent up paperclip. If the rest of the system checks out electrically, you should hear the compressor click on and start to run. This is only indicative of a faulty low pressure switch if you KNOW your freon is fully charged.

if 35psi is the low limit, what is full so i can be sure that it is FULL?

I dont think you can go by just one figure. The measurement should be done with the system operating. It depends on the ambient temperature, as well as type of refrigerant, type of system, type of compressor, etc. I will assume yours is charged with R-134a, so here is an approx. from a chart for Mercedes Benz cars which are fully charged.
Low Side PSI High Side PSI Ambient Temp.
16-29 115-200 70-80
19-39 140-235 80-90
25-43 165-270 90-100
37-51 210-310 100-110
This is with the engine running and the a.c. system operating, the a.c. compressor clutch engaged. The Ambient Temperature is measured a foot in front of the condenser. I am guessing that their low pressure cut-off switches are set for a 15 psi minimum.
Im sure the Escort system has different readings, but I dont know where to lay my hands on a chart.

I learned most all that I know about auto a.c. work by reading the info and forums at: www.ackits.com and www.autoacforum.com/. Its why I usually dont try to fix the a.c. unit in our family cars.

I had the same problem 2 years ago.
I changed the ccrm, you will need to get it from the dealer or junk yard.
it is located right below the Air filter, it is a black box with a multiwire connector.
This is a common problems with the ford escort 97-99.
this is a serial # that mine had F8CF-12B577-AA.
The problem with is , is a bad soldering on pin #23.
