1995 gmc sierra 4x4 transmission

What years are compatible with a 1995 gmc sierra 4x4 automatic transmission it's got a 350( 5.7)

You should really check with a wrecking yard or trans shop but this is what I have been told.

If it is a 95 non-PWM then 95 is the only years compatible and it has to be a non-PWM.

If it is PWM then it is compatible with PWM 95-97.

It can be replaced only with another 95. Beginning with the 95MY, a pwm solenoid was used for the TCC and starting with the 96MY the 3-2 downshift solenoid was changed from a PWM to an on/off style and with other changes to the spacer plate and valve body make it incompatible with preivous years

what is a pmw on the transmission? I have a 95 gmc 4x4 that the transmission either needs to be rebuilt or replaced with another one from the scrap yard. How do I know if I'm getting the right transmission.

the year range ,,,,guts,,,case are the same...difference is the seperator plate and solenoid arrangement...a trans shop can swap out the parts to make it compatable
