1995 Isuzu Rodeo, Trans Problem

This Vehicle will go down the road until it reaches third gear, then RPMs go up and Transmission light comes on and have no gears, until I pull over and shut off the vehicle, after restart I can go again until I reach third gear then same happens, any ideals???? This is a automatic V-6. Also had it put onto a computer and No codes appear.

Re: 1995 Isuzu Rodeo, Trans Problem

2 things:

1st - check your voltage output on your alternator ASAP, while the truck is running with the heater, radio, etc ON....if it's less then 14V, visit your local Napa for a GOOD replacement. Expect to spend around $175+

If this engine/tranny combo feels a weakness in the voltage system, the truck will act retarded... just no other way to put it, these trucks will act VERY strange if they're craving volts.

2nd: Do a search here for threads on how to clean the range mode sensor, on the driver side of the transmission pan, also a VERY common problem. A dirty sensor causes the tranny to not know what gear it's in or what gear to shift too.

3rdly: What's the maintenance history on this tranny? These trannies are VERY picky about frequent ATF drain/refills.

Re: 1995 Isuzu Rodeo, Trans Problem

I have just bought this vehicle, and had the battery replaced because of it being to small for this truck, cost 100. Tried to change transmission fliud but will have to take it to transmission place to have it replaced due to cross bar. But the fliud is pretty dark, seems like it has'nt been changed for awhile. Also will buy a new sensor for it and see what happens, Might also have to buy alternator due to when I started it with new battery the alternator started making noise. Is there any other things that you can think of that I should check or replace? Think you for the reply.
