'87 Custom Cruiser trouble.

Let me start off by saying I know very little about cars, so if I sound like an idiot, bear with me. My Cruiser was doing fine since I bought it, except the radio is all messed up and wont work and if you push in the cigarette lighter the radio completely turns off. Well, about a week ago it died when I went to pick up my daughter from school. I got a jump and made it home, but when my wife tried to start it, it was completely dead. We got a new battery, and that didn't work, and I just installed a new alternator thinking that would work, but it didn't. Now...I'm not to sure I put it in right, but I think I have it in there the same way the old one was in. Any suggestions? We really need to get this running. Thank you in advance.

So you are saying each am it is dead, what is the actual ongoing problem? Has anybody check the alt output, possible high load drains when the key is off, just replacing parts will not work here.

Re: '87 Custom Cruiser trouble.

The problem is that it wont start. When I tried to jump it, it would rev up but would never start, the it would slow down then stop doing anything. I told you that I know nothing about cars, so please bear with me.
