stroker question.
Hi again everybody, I cant remeber if i ever posted what happened to my car but just to make a long story short:
The car had low oil and i floored it and spun a bearing, the block is junk but i happened to find another 7bolt block to use as a core for $25. So now i'm debating. Here are my 2 options i've been thinking lately. 1. rebuild with this http://www.maperformance.com/maperfo...k-stage-1.html and still have nightmares about the C word. Im not planning on making more than 300HP. 2. Is a stroker kit, it's a 2.4 with good pistons and rods, i would only need to have my block machined and assembled. here is the link http://www.maperformance.com/maperfo...lding-kit.html Now IF i went with the 2nd option, i'd just keep the boost low because i'm sure the evo 3 16g i have will be out of breath by 5k rpms. would the 16g survive about 11psi(stock) untill i can afford a bigger turbo and more fuel or would it be enough for about 300-320HP? I know web sites list the turbo at 380HP

Re: stroker question.
As a C word victim myself, I would say if you are going to spend the money now on a nice rebuild, you may as well find yourself a 6 bolt block. You can get them decently cheap. It may be that little extra now, but its better to spend it now and not have to worry about the good old c-walk at all.

Re: stroker question.
yes i REALLY want a 6bolt but i'd hate to spend extra money on DSMlink, I heard that it's REQUIRED to take care of random misfires. I plan on making no more than 300HP.
I have all the supportive mods and i considered the 2.4l because i read that a 2.4l practically cures crankwalk but i'd have to research again. I plan on finishing this by mid-june so i have time to think about it and reasearch.

Re: stroker question.
If you're only going for 300 hp or less, dont even bother with the 2.4. If you cant go 6 bolt, then just get a 2.0 7 bolt. I honestly dont think you'll need link to do the 6 bolt swap, but at 300 hp you shouldnt worry too much about CW anyway.

Re: stroker question.
I've never heard of a 2.4l crankwalking, but then again, you dont hear of many people running them. I run one with a heavy clutch and havent had any problems yet.

Re: stroker question.
Oh, Longemoco, you know the other thing you should do is check with Steve Hill about him rebuilding you a motor. If memory serves he would do it for like a grand, but I haven't been on style for years.

Re: stroker question.
hey vanila, is your the 4g64 or 4g63 block? if i ended up with the 2.4l then i'd for sure jump to the scm50 from PTE in the future.
Dustin: I allready asked him, he said he doesnt do it anymore because when he used to charge 1k he wouldnt make any money. And i actually bought my core from him for for $25. He is a good guy.

Re: stroker question.
I did not have close to 300 hp and my motor still CW'd. You do not need link for the 6 bolt swap. I do not have it and have not had a single problem with the misfires.

Re: stroker question.
95% of people will get Random Misfired into oblivion without DSMlink, consider yourself one of the lucky ones and don't let it interfere with your ability to give good advice.
A 16g on a stroker will go all the way to redline, but it will only hold 16 psi or so IIRC. Not that that's a bad thing. And it will spool at like 6 rpm, if that's what you're into. It would be ridiculously easy to hit 300 hp on a stroker, but don't forget that you'll need 300 hp worth of fuel regardless of the fact that you make it at less boost pressure. The 510s are too small.
