my amp powers down

while im listning to my radio my amp will just shut off and come back on in about 30 secs i have two p2 12" rockford fostgate subs in a ported box powered by a kenwood amp 1000w max and a sony headunit
all help will be appreciated

Cool Re: my amp powers down

same thing used to happen...turns out my negative cable was loose @ the amp and that burned some of the strings but taking it out and putting everything back on, worked for me.

BTW wat's the RMS watts on your amp. caus I have 2 x p1 ported box with 300 watts rockford amp. just woundering if your amp can handle p2 which are like 300 rms each.

You have your flow backwards, amps don't "handle" speakers - the speakers "handle" the power that comes from the amp. It does beg the question though o how you have your speakers connected to the amp. Different ways of wiring the speakers can make the amp put out more power.

The protection circuit will cut off the amp if - it gets too hot, it senses DC offset in the output, or there is a short circuit. As mentioned above, the amp will also turn off if the car voltage drops below a certain value (usually around 10 volts).
