89'corvette leaky gas cap
My mechanic just found over a gallon of water in my fuel tank, coming from a leaky gas cap in my 89'corvette.How did this happen? Is it possible to have that much water inside? the car has been sitting out , not working for 6 months. What could be damaged? injectors? After 24 hours of additives,it still shuts off,and only iddle for a while. Did anything similar ever happened to you? How do you fix it?

Re: 89'corvette leaky gas cap
Normally this comes from buying gas at a station that doesn't pump the tanks. Most cars have covers over the gas caps. At this point remove the gas tank and pour all of the liquid out of it into big containers. The water will settle to the bottom skim the gas off the top. You can siphon the water from the bottom. Add a can of dry gas and refill the tank. Remove the return line and drain enough fuel to empty the lines into a big container.
The car should run properly. |
