Unhappy 1998 Jimmy, no start, just gives a fews puts then cranks

I have read the numerous threads posted here about the no start problems had by by many. I have replaced fuel pump, reads a constant 61/2 psi now, was a very . Same results cranks putts a bit then just cranks more with a rare but ocasional putt. I replaced the expensive cpi spider this weekend, my thoughts were regulator not working properly, same result. I also tried a new crank sensor, no change. I must add did a complete tune up also plugs, rotor and wires all with no positive results. This vehicle is new to me, started and drove it with no issue when I purchased it but since I got it home a few weeks ago have not been able to get it to start and run. Any and all comments that could help point me in the better direction then I've been headed would be wonderful to me.

Check for a dead ignition coil and check the fuses for your EFI. Hope this helps!

Re: 1998 Jimmy, no start, just gives a fews puts then cranks

I had already checked the fuses, but no harm in checking again. I have a nice blue streak from my ignition module. I think maybe the term I used as it putts is confusing, what I meant by that is it is like it starts and then stalls right away. I can do this 5 or 6 times then it just cranks until I let it set for a bit and I can start the process all over again. My thinking is that it's not getting fuel after the initial prime from the fuel pump, according to the wiring schematic I have shows an oil pressure switch of some sort in the instrument panel but thats where I get messed up because the gauges are showing a rise in oil pressure from cranking.

Re: 1998 Jimmy, no start, just gives a fews putts then cranks

After further reading believe my problem has something to do with the passlock system. I didn't add that I had to replace the ignition switch key tumbler wasn't thinking that had anything to do with my no start condition. I read that the switch tumbler housing is where the resistor for the passlock is, but this problem acts like injection is being shut down by the passkey (passlock)system. The fuel pump was first problem but in the diagnosing stage the ignition key jammed up and no longer worked essentially compounding my no start condition. I attempted the re-learn procedure for the passlock but the security light goes out shortly after bumping the start position as described in the steps. The Jimmy did have a remote start system but removed it and put all back to oem standard. I'm totally at the mercy of the guru's here at the Automotive Forums on what my next step is to be. HELP !!!

I guess before because wouldn't start due to fuel pump issue, not sure why now, hence my asking the forum.

I mentioned in my second post that I replaced the ignition lock cylinder (tumbler). I didn't think it mattered to use an parts store replacement but during my excessive troubleshooting found out that you have to use a GM lock cylinder. Anyway that was the fix.
