1997 Park Avenue Starter replacement

Ok, I have the factory shop manual which says the flywheel inspection cover must be removed to get the starter out. Can anyone tell me if this is a simple or agonizing task? Also, will there be any issues with shims between the starter and engine block? I'm hoping someone went thru this (starter replacement) and can give me a heads up on the procedure. Thanks

Simple task, use the same shims that came out, if none, don’t worry about it.
