Buying a Trans Am

I've been thinking about buying this car... http://s657.photobucket.com/albums/u...07/Trans%20Am/ just wanted to know if any of you would know how horrible the gas mileage is and other important things. I hope, I posted this in the right place and the question is relevant.Th The guy who is selling it goes to the same college as me and the price is $2,700. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow, perhaps. Thanks. ^_^

Re: Buying a Trans Am

You're kinda in the right place, but...Trans Am is a Firebird, next Forum listed below this one.
I will say that is a very nice looking car and seems to be a good price. It has the T/A 6.6, which is the Pontiac 400. I'm not sure on the MPG of that engine but I can say...I used to own a 79 (like that one) with the 6.6 (Olds 403) engine. After some modifications (headers, dual exhaust, velocity stack, opened the rear of the scoop and rebuilt the carb) I got 26 MPG on the open highway at 70-80 MPH. And with the 21 gallon tank those cars had, you can go quite a ways on a tank...Cheyanne, WY to Omaha, NE..502 miles .

Re: Buying a Trans Am

Ah, sorry about posting in the wrong area. I'm glad I wasn't to far off though. Wow, thanks for all the information. I went and checked the car out yesterday. It fired up on the first start and sounded great. He said he put a new dual exhaust on it among other things. I'm going to test drive it today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up buying it... again thanks for the information.
