Hints on pulling off plug wires on 2001 LeSabre ?

Having a hell of a time getting the plug wires off the rear plugs even with plug wire pullers. Can`t get a grip on them with my hand either.
Any hints ?
Had to use channel locks to pull off the fronts.
Front come off easier after pulling them off acouple of times. But still snap on real hard.

Dielectric grease will make them easier to pull off in the future. If you used channel-locks on the front boots, they are damaged and the wires should be replaced. When you try to remove the rear boots, use a pair of gloves & twist & turn the boot on the plug before removing

Excellent piece of advice. There are many uses for dielectric grease in an automobile and for the small cost of the product, it can save a lot of time ,frustration, and grief. Also it helps to add a small bit of antiseize lubricant to the plug threads before installing to make the plugs easier to remove the next time around ,(if you plan on keeping the car a long time.)

Re: Hints on pulling off plug wires on 2001 LeSabre ?

I tried twisting the boot prior to pulling on it as i knew it likes to bond to the porceiln of the plug and thought they would be difficult to remove for the first time if i didn`t since they were original to the car 100k car.
I always use die electric grease when putting things back together for it makes things easier to take apart for the future.
Any other thoughts ?
I`m about to go drastic and just start pulling and not worring if it ruins the wires.
I already had one wire pull out of the metel part in side of the boot that snaps when it is on the plug.
I then had to pull this connector off of the plug end with pliers.
I`ve never seen any thing else like it.

I've had to sit on top of the engine and yank on the plug wires to get them out. They can be fustrating. :-(

You probably should put new wires back anyway. Here ia a previous post from
a member with some help.

Re: Hints on pulling off plug wires on 2001 LeSabre ?

Just keep twisting the boot in the same direction until it pops. I got beat up pretty good doing mine. I had bruises on my fore arms and chest. I admit I finally busted off the ceramic insulators on 2 of them to get the plugs out. Just be careful if you do this to not get ceramic down in the plug hole and be careful if you blow the area out before plug removal with compressed air that you don't get glass stuck in your face or eye.
