Fault code on 2000 Prism
Hi,
Last April, the check engine light came on in my 2000 Prism. I took it to Autozone and they told me I had a P0441 fault. I found this website and found many threads on this fault. I did nothing and the light went out a few days later and has never on since. Since it has been 9 months since the light came on, will the fault still be present when it is read at emissions or does it go away after a certain amount of ignition cycles? Can I clear the history by disconnecting the battery? I stopped back at Autozone today to get it checked and the employee told me the engine light has to be on for them to read a fault. I have to go through emmisions in a couple of months and I would like to be confident that this fault is gone before I go. Thanks. |

Re: Fault code on 2000 Prism
The fault should clear once your car does 3 engine cycles without the code being present.

Re: Fault code on 2000 Prism
Does the CEL come on for a few seconds when you start the car? Just making sure the bulb isn't toasted. If the bulb is working consider yourself lucky. Get it emission tested asap before it comes back.

Re: Fault code on 2000 Prism
my 2000 prism had the same codes when I went to autozone . turned out to be the gas cap. Does the ODBII scanner clear the check engine light ? When the tech at autozone adjusted the o-ring on the gas cap he had me turn the key off then start the car and the check engine light went off. I wasnt watching when he was plugged in so I didnt see if he did anything to clear the check engine light.
