Completed: Tamiya “Axia” Nissan Skyline GT-R Gr.A 1/24th

I finished this one today, and if anyone has this kit then good luck with the decals! There is more decal than paint on this kit and they took the majority of the time on this build.

I bought this kit back in 1993 before I took a break from the hobby and, unfortunately, at one point it got damp and the decals were ruined. Big problem, solved with the Axia ’92 set from Studio27. A nice decal set which includes a lot of “double-whites” i.e. plain white shapes to back up the small sponsor logos, and doubles of the larger scripts such as Trampio and Axia.
I used TS-17 Gloss Aluminium for the body and TS-44 Brilliant (Calsonic) Blue for the interior and underside – I think this car started as a Nissan team car and was then bought by the private Axia team at a year old. All other detail paints are Tamiya Acrylics.
I had the Studio27 p/e kit but used very little, plus under the bonnet are various detail wires and braided cables, plus scratch-built connectors. I covered the extinguishers with BMF and backed the seats with Scale Motorsport 1/43 Kevlar.

Apologies for the photo quality, weather here in the UK (snow) means no out-door shots today…

Thanks for looking.

Very Nice. The decals look awesome. I have the same kit as well as the one from Fujimi. I think i have to get hold of the S27 sheet as i am not sure about the kit decals.
